Pyramid
Rocks!!
What
a way to prepare for Easter!! From Monday 10th through to
Thursday 13th April, 3 local churches, a team of “gap-year”
student volunteers, between 35 and 40 children aged between 5 and 11 and
a superhero joined together to learn more about Joseph and his adventures
in Egypt.
Each
day (following the Scripture Union material Pyramid Rock) more and more of
the story unfolded, and together we discovered more about how God is
faithful, how God sticks with us in the tough times, and how God has a
plan and a purpose for our lives.
It
was all very exciting – Captain Ketchup took time out from saving the
world each day to help people “catch-up” with what had happened the
previous day, as well as tell some truly awful jokes!!

We
were also joined by world-famous archaeologist Dr. Potty, and his trusty
sidekick Denise as they looked (with help from Postman Pete (who had very stinky feet!!), celebrity French chef Mari-Anne, and
Mummy) for an ancient Egyptian relic, which held the answer to ancient
mysteries.

Each
day the “Cool Cats” led the singing, which got louder and louder as
the week got on!!

And
every day had an Egyptian-themed craft – one day everyone dressed up as
mummies, another day we made bookmarks that had hieroglyphic messages that
needed decoding, another day we decorated biscuits to look like Joseph’s
wonderful multi-coloured coat, and one day we made cat-masks.

All
in all it was a fantastic week!! Everyone – children included – ended
the week absolutely exhausted, but it was definitely worth it, because
together we had discovered more about the wonderful and faithful God who
is always with us.
