Landlubbers
Ahoy!!
It
all went so well last year that we thought we would do it again this
year!! So from Monday April 2nd until Thursday April 5th volunteers from 3
local churches were joined by between 30 and 35 children aged between 4
and 11, and a few very dodgy looking pirates on a hunt for treasure beyond
price.
Each
day (following the Scripture Union material 'Landlubbers') we learned more and more
about a man named Paul, and the letter that he wrote to the church in
Phillippi. Through the week we learned that the letter tells us just how
much God loves us.
Each
day the crew - led by Captain Yo-Ho and Captain Heave-Ho - were captivated
by the promise of priceless treasure just waiting to be found. The two
pirates set off on a number of treasure hunts, reminded the crew what they
had heard the previous day, and told some terrible, terrible jokes!!
Each
day the 'treasure seekers' led the singing, which got louder and louder
and louder. Special mention must go to 'Guitar Guy' Dain (aka "Booty
Boy"!!) who was tormented mercilessly throughout the week.

Every
day had a pirate-themed craft. We made parrots, pirate's hats and
lighthouses among other things.

All
in all
another
fantastic week!! Everyone was exhausted
- some even lost their voices - but everyone
agreed that it was definitely worth it because together we discovered more
about just how much God loves us.
