EMERGENCY FOOD PARCELS
PARCELS
GIVEN OUT IN MARCH – 2
Thank
You to everyone who continues to donate food and cash for this project as
it helps to ensure we always have enough in the store cupboard to meet
needs when they arise.
We
would particularly appreciate donations of tin openers at the moment, as
there is no point in giving out tins of food if people with limited
cooking facilities can’t open them!
If
you would like to make regular donations to the food parcels and don’t
already do so, please speak to Jon or Liz.
YOUTH CLUB
(Thursdays 6.00-7.30pm, 7.30-9.00pm)
After
a slow start this month, the younger Youth Club has seen an increase in
numbers and we had almost 20 children to the last session in March. This
group ranges from 8-12 years old and attracts children from both the local
estate and further afield. We always need more people to volunteer to help
with this group – you don’t need to be available every week or have
any prior experience – but you will need patience, a CRB check and to
keep your wits about you! Please talk to any of the current helpers (Jon,
Pete, Julie, Linda or Liz) for more information.
We
are currently thinking and praying about how to go forward with the older
group, which is aimed at 13-16 year olds. Currently
only 4 or 5 young men come along regularly, and whilst we don’t want to
lose them, we are liaising with the town youth centre about how to best
cater for this age group.
Please
pray for both of the Youth Clubs – especially that we will be able to
get to know the children and young people better, and that we will be
positive influences in their lives.
BABY CLOTHES BANK
PARCELS
GIVEN OUT IN MARCH – 0
Thank
you to everyone who has generously contributed to the baby clothes bank so
far, your gifts are much appreciated. Unfortunately computer breakdown has
led to a delay in the printing and distributing of more publicity about
this project, but we are hopeful that leaflets will go out in April.
We
also know that those who have received boxes of clothes and toiletries so
far have been really pleased with them.
LUNCH CLUB
The
Lunch Club continues to go from strength to strength, with about 40 people
regularly attending each month. Transport is provided for those unable to
get to the Rockspring Centre under their own steam, and a lunch of
homemade soup, bread and cheese, homemade dessert and tea or coffee is
enjoyed by all.
There
is also always an epilogue from someone in the church to encourage those
attending to consider the truth of the Gospel and Jon recently spoke on
the need to depend on God in all things.
If
you would like to know more about the valuable work of the Lunch Club
please speak to Diane.
