EMERGENCY FOOD PARCELS
PARCELS
GIVEN OUT IN MARCH – 4
Thank
You to everyone who continues to donate food and cash for this project as
it helps to ensure we always have enough in the store cupboard to meet
needs when they arise.
The
cupboard is reasonably full at the moment, because we have just received
donations from a couple of the other churches in Ludlow. But we often run
short of one or two particular things, so if you want to know if anything
in particular is needed, please ask.
If
you would like to make regular donations to the food parcels and don’t
already do so, please speak to Jon or Liz.
YOUTH CLUB
(Thursdays 6.00-7.30pm, Tuesdays 7.00-9.00pm)
After
a slow start this month, the younger Youth Club has seen an increase in
numbers and we had almost 20 children to the last session in March. This
group ranges from 8-12 years old and attracts children from both the local
estate and further afield. We always need more people to volunteer to help
with this group – you don’t need to be available every week or have
any prior experience – but you will need patience, a CRB check and to
keep your wits about you! Please talk to any of the current helpers (Jon,
Pete, Julie McRobbie, Linda or Liz) for more information.
We
are have been thinking and praying about how to go forward with the older
group, which is aimed at 13-16 year olds. Having spoken to representatives
of Ludlow Youth Centre, we have agreed to try (for a limited period) and
run the older youth club on a Tuesday evening rather than a Thursday
evening, just to see if that encourages more young people to come to our
club.
Please
pray for both of the Youth Clubs – especially that it will become clear
whether the shift to a Tuesday night should become permanent, and that we
will be able to get to know the children and young people better, and that
we will be positive influences in their lives.
BABY CLOTHES BANK
PARCELS
GIVEN OUT IN MARCH – 1
Thank
you to everyone who has generously contributed to the baby clothes bank so
far, your gifts are much appreciated.
We
do have a lot of stuff at the moment, so if you know of someone who might
appreciate a donation of baby clothes please speak to Liz.
LUNCH CLUB
The
Lunch Club continues to go from strength to strength, with about 40 people
regularly attending each month. Transport is provided for those unable to
get to the Rockspring Centre under their own steam, and a lunch of
homemade soup, bread and cheese, homemade dessert and tea or coffee is
enjoyed by all.
We
seek to feed both body and soul, so there is also always an epilogue from
someone in the church to encourage those attending to consider the truth
of the Gospel.
If
you would like to know more about the valuable work of the Lunch Club
please speak to Diane Howell-Thomas.
